About The Position

The Yard Tractor is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within a facility yard, warehouse, or distribution center. The role ensures trailers are properly positioned to support on-time loading and unloading operations, conducts routine equipment inspections, and maintains clear communication with warehouse staff, drivers, and dispatch. The position supports yard safety, operational flow, and productivity in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Requirements

• Must have a CDL Class A.

Responsibilities

• Operate a yard tractor to move and position trailers within facility grounds.
• Stage trailers at designated docks for loading and unloading according to warehouse schedules.
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of yard equipment and vehicles; promptly report maintenance, mechanical, or safety concerns.
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel, drivers, and dispatch to support efficient and timely yard operations.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer locations, movements, and yard activity as required.
• Follow safety policies, traffic rules, and company procedures while working in high-traffic outdoor environments.
• Respond to dispatch instructions and adjust to changing priorities and operational needs.
• Operate fuel trucks to refuel refrigeration trailers on facility grounds, as assigned.
• Assist with basic yard maintenance and maintain clear, safe access routes for vehicles and personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support transportation and yard operations.
