About The Position
Responsible for accurately locating, identifying and safely removing parts from vehicles. This role involves verifying the quality of parts, reporting discrepancies, and ensuring parts are clean before delivery to Quality Control. The Yard Tech will also be responsible for moving vehicles and parts without causing damage or injury, and may operate forklifts or heavy machinery after certification. The position requires the employee to have their own tools, though some will be provided. Familiarity with smartphone technology and maintenance of assigned company lot vehicles are also expected. The role may include the safe and accurate sectioning of vehicles to customer specifications and adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Forklift certification.
- You are expected to have your own tools.
- Familiarity with smartphone technology.

- Previous experience is a benefit but is not required.
- New members will be provided with the proper training and equipment to do the job at task.
Responsibilities
- Locate the part that is designated on the work order or sales invoice and ensure the description matches the merchandise description.
- Remove parts from vehicles for work orders within suggested time constraints in a safety conscious manner; may use lifts, forklifts, torches, power wrenches, power saws.
- Verify the quality of parts and report any discrepancies utilizing the Automotive Recycling Association (ARA) part system and guidelines.
- Ensure that all parts pulled are clean and brought to the Quality Control department for Quality assurance.
- Move vehicles and parts without damaging vehicles, parts, property or injuring personnel.
- May be required to operate certain types of forklifts or heavy machinery after appropriate certification.
- Maintenance of assigned company lot vehicle is expected.
- May be responsible for the safe and accurate sectioning of vehicles to customer specifications.
