About The Position

The Yard Specialist maintains the organization of the yard by loading and unloading materials, managing inventory, and following safety protocols. The role involves operating equipment and vehicles and communicating with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and address issues. The position supports the timely movement of goods and overall warehouse productivity.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Pull orders for delivery.
• Unload incoming trucks.
• Receive material from vendors.
• Conduct regular inventory checks and report discrepancies to management.
• Assist in preparing shipments by ensuring items are properly packaged and labeled.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
• Clean and organize the lumber yard.
• Assist walk-in customers with loading their vehicles.
• Perform a pre-shift checklist of the forklift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
