About The Position

The Yard Porter supports yard operations at an automotive finishing facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The role includes receiving, labeling, and staging vehicles; updating inventory; reporting damage; handling mis-shipped vehicles; and maintaining an orderly flow of vehicles through the yard. The position works Tuesday through Friday from 6:45 p.m. to 4:45 a.m. and pays $17.85 per hour. The work takes place in an automotive manufacturing yard, with exposure to weather, equipment, and vehicles. The Yard Porter must follow OSHA and company health and safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Valid U.S. driver's license required.
• Ability to work safely in a high-pace environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors.
• Must comply with company safety policies and wear PPE.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Computer skills preferred; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Receive, label, and stage vehicles according to requirements.
• Report incoming vehicle damage to the Yard Lead.
• Flag and stage mis-shipped vehicles as instructed.
• Maintain chronological (FIFO) staging order.
• Communicate yard-flow issues or concerns to the Yard Lead.
• Keep the yard clean, organized, and efficient.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Comply with OSHA and company safety policies and wear PPE.
