About The Position

The Yard Operator safely operates and cares for forklifts and other heavy industrial mobile equipment. The role moves, stocks, stores, pulls, picks, and stages baled paper in designated staging areas according to mill production specifications and production needs. The operator maintains orderly and safe stock stacks, completes paperwork accurately and on time, follows the production schedule and company policies and procedures, and maintains good housekeeping. The position requires working 12-hour rotating day and night shifts and working through scheduled holidays. The operator follows directions under limited supervision and performs other duties as assigned. Work is outdoors, with exposure to wet, hot or humid, and cold conditions.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Forklift certification.
Maintain a current Fork Lift Truck Operator License.
Able to read, write, and speak English and follow instructions.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or graphic instructions and deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Able to work a 12-hour rotational position.

Nice To Haves

At least 3 years of forklift experience is preferred.
Prior work experience driving heavy industrial mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

Safely operate and care for forklifts and other heavy industrial mobile equipment.
Transport, move, stock, and store baled paper in designated staging areas.
Pull, pick, and stage paper bales based on production needs.
Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in staging areas.
Complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
Adhere to the daily production schedule.
Comply with company policies and procedures, including safety requirements and good housekeeping.
Follow directions under limited supervision.
Work a 12-hour rotating day and night shift and work through scheduled holidays.
Perform other duties as assigned.
