Trojan Recycling, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a safety-conscious Yard Laborer to join their growing team in Brockton, MA. This role involves working at heights and requires strict adherence to safety protocols in all weather conditions. Waste Connections is an integrated services company providing solid waste collection, transfer, disposal, and recycling services. As a yard laborer, key responsibilities include directing truck traffic, performing manual labor such as paper picking and maintaining the cleanliness of the transfer station, yard work like cutting weeds, climbing and tarping train cars, performing general maintenance and repairs (painting, janitorial work), operating light equipment like skid steers, and promoting continuous improvement in safety and environmental practices. The role also involves interacting with customers and employees to find safe and environmentally sound solutions.
Requirements
- One year of stable employment history in a similar environment.
- Ability to lift at least 75lbs and climb.
- Ability to work schedule in all weather conditions
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Checking trucks in and directing traffic at site as necessary.
- Manual labor including paper picking, keeping the transfer station clean and presentable.
- Perform yard work including cutting weeds.
- Climbing and tarping train cars.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs including painting and janitorial work.
- Operating light equipment such as: skid steers.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Interacting with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine safe and environmentally sound solutions to service issues.
