About The Position

The Yard Jockey is responsible for moving trailers around the warehouse yard and preparing them for unloading and loading. This role involves the movement and spotting of trailers to facilitate warehouse operations in sorting and processing material for shipment or storage. The position requires timely movements, knowledge of on-hand inventory, and maintaining an orderly storage lot to maximize efficiency. The Yard Jockey will operate a yard truck safely, driving and operating the vehicle under 15 mph within the facility. Responsibilities include conducting pre-trips on trailers before placing them in doors, interacting daily with facility personnel, and complying with facility safety requirements. Communication will be conducted using a cellular telephone or 2-way radio with dispatch. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Safe truck and trailer operating skills are required
• Experience with backing 53-foot trailers
• 1-2 years of relevant experience required
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Must possess excellent customer service and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
• Valid Driver’s License

• CDL license preferred but not required
• Ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic
• Must be innovative, confident and energetic
• Detail oriented; practices good judgment in decision making
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate vehicle under 15 mph in and around facility

• Must function and interact on a daily basis with facility personnel and comply with facility safety requirements
• Communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with dispatch
• Other duties as assigned
