About The Position

A major food distributor in the Bronx is hiring a dependable, safety-driven Yard Jockey. This full-time role keeps our logistics running smoothly by managing trailer movement and supporting warehouse flow. This role is responsible for moving trailers and equipment safely throughout the warehouse yard, positioning trailers at dock doors, supporting loading and unloading flow, and helping maintain an organized and efficient logistics operation.

Requirements

  • Valid Class B CDL required (Class A preferred) with tractor-trailer capability.
  • Must be willing to work at least 9 hours per shift.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, supervisors, and transportation teams.
  • Self-motivated to work independently with minimal supervision, keeping a strong focus on detail and cleanliness
  • Proven track record of strong attendance and a solid work ethic.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors in cold environment.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and maintenance tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous warehouse, janitorial, maintenance, or facility cleaning experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting trailers and trucks between parking spaces, and dock doors.
  • Lining up trailers accurately against warehouse loading doors so workers can load or unload goods.
  • Maintains accurate trailer placement, communicates with warehouse and transportation teams, and follows all company safety procedures
  • Checking trailers for physical damage, safety issues, or mechanical problems.
  • Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports equipment, trailer or truck issues to management.
  • Walking or driving through the lot to keep an accurate inventory of which trailers are on site and their status.
  • Preventing traffic jams and delays in the busy yard
  • Stay in constant contact with dispatchers, dock workers, and supervisors to keep trailer movements safe and on schedule.
  • Watch for pedestrians and other equipment, follow all traffic rules and keep the yard organized throughout the shift.
  • Partner with warehouse, transportation, and dispatch teams, monitors yard conditions, and quickly report any operational issues.
  • Follow all company safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for employees and visitors.
