About The Position

C.R. England, Inc. is seeking an experienced, safety-conscious Yard Hostler to join its logistics team. The role is responsible for moving trailers efficiently within the yard, supporting timely loading and unloading operations, and maintaining a safe working environment. It is a safety-sensitive position in which impairment while working presents substantial risk. The opportunity is full-time, based in Woodland, California, and pays $24.00–$29.00 per hour. The listed schedule is a day shift, Saturday through Tuesday.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience as a Yard Hostler or in a similar role.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to operate yard goats and other material handling equipment.
Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to spend a minimum of 10 hours daily standing, walking, or bending.
Strong attention to safety protocols and procedures.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Transportation experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Drive yard goats (tractors) to move trailers between doors, dock areas, and storage locations.
Perform multiple trailer moves per hour while meeting the stated KPIs: 5.35 Moves Per Hour (MPH) and 78% On-Time Moves (OTM).
Open and secure trailer doors with wires.
Place chocks and pup stands during trailer docking.
Follow customer safety protocols and regulations.
Maintain the physical fitness needed to navigate a fast-paced work environment.
Collaborate with management to support efficient operations and complete assigned tasks.
Monitor trailer inventory and report discrepancies.
Perform pre-shift safety inspections on equipment.
Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and inventory.
