About The Position

This position is responsible for coordinating trailer and tanker traffic in the receiving yard and maintaining a log of product loads while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Applicants will be considered for any Yard Driver opening.

Requirements

• Must have a current valid State driver’s license.
• Must pass Tyson Yard/Lot Driver Assessment.
• Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, shovel, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet, bend, stretch, reach, work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors.
• Must be able to use basic hand tools and perform basic mechanical and maintenance functions.
• Must be able to read to complete required logs.
• Must be able to communicate with supervisor and co-workers via two-way radio.
• Must be able to operate yard truck in a safe manner at all times by following all safety procedures.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months.
• Must have 6 months experience of tractor-trailer driving within the last 2 years.

Nice To Haves

• May be required to operate front-end loader, man lift, or forklift and will be required to obtain certification to do so.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate trailer and tanker traffic in the receiving yard.
• Maintain a log of product loads.
• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to Tyson policies and procedures.
• Move correct trailer from yard to door and door to yard.
• Communicate with drivers in a respectful manner.
• Set reefer units at appropriate settings.
• Check to see if reefer units will start.
• Communicate with dispatcher and follow instructions.
• Chock trailers.
• Report any fuel or oil leaks to maintenance.
• Breaks must be staggered.
• Be responsible for the cleanliness of the shuttle truck.
• Perform pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at beginning of shift.
• Perform lot checks as requested by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Receive training as required.
• Perform various positions as required/assigned.
