About The Position

The Yard Driver retrieves full trailers of in-bound product and delivers them to the Receiving dock. The driver will also remove and stage full trailers for outbound Routes shipment. This position is responsible for transporting trailers across the yard and docking/undocking trailers as necessary for the operation of the Receiving dock. Effective communication skills are required to ensure safety, efficiency, and coordination in the yard. This includes the ability to clearly convey and understand instructions, collaborate with team members, and respond appropriately in various situations, including emergencies. Effective communication over radio and with all levels of management is also essential.

Requirements

  • At least six months of relative non-CDL Driver experience with single employer within the last 12 months.
  • A clear Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and pass the MVR Records check. (No DUI/DWIs in the last 12 months).
  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds, shovel, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet, bend, stretch, reach, work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors.
  • Valid State issued Driver's license.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Willing and able to effectively communicate with supervisor and other team members via 2-way radio.
  • Must pass Tyson Yard/Lot Driver Assessment.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • May be willing and able to operate front end loader, man lift, or forklift and will be required to obtain certification to do so.
  • May be willing to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieves full trailers on in-bound product and delivers them to the Receiving dock.
  • Removes and stages full trailers for outbound Routes shipment.
  • Transports trailers across the yard and docks/undocks trailers as necessary for the operation of the Receiving dock.
  • Ensures the truck yard stays free of debris and trash.
  • Performs pre-trip inspections on the Yard trucks and ensures any defects are reported to your supervisor immediately for repair.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the yard trucks daily.
  • Maintains clean work area by use of soap and high-pressure hose.
  • Completes required logs.
  • Ensures that safety while operating a yard truck is top priority.
