About The Position

The Yard Driver retrieves full trailers with in-bound product and delivers them to the Receiving dock. The driver is also responsible for removing and staging full trailers for outbound Routes shipment. This position involves transporting trailers across the yard and docking/undocking them as necessary for the operation of the Receiving dock. Candidates must possess effective communication skills to ensure safety, efficiency, and coordination in the yard, including the ability to clearly convey and understand instructions, collaborate with team members, and respond appropriately in various situations, including emergencies. Effective communication over radio and with all levels of management is essential.

Requirements

  • Must have at least six months of relative non-CDL Driver experience with a single employer within the last 12 months.
  • Must have a clear Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and pass the MVR Records check (No DUI/DWIs in the last 12 months).
  • Must be willing and have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, shovel, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet, bend, stretch, reach, work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors.
  • Valid State issued Driver's license.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must be willing and have the ability to effectively communicate with supervisor and other team members via 2-way radio.
  • Must pass Tyson Yard/Lot Driver Assessment.
  • May be willing and able to operate front end loader, man lift, or forklift and will be required to obtain certification to do so.
  • Possess effective communication skills to ensure safety, efficiency, and coordination in the yard.
  • Ability to clearly convey and understand instructions, collaborate with team members, and respond appropriately in various situations, including emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve full trailers on in-bound product and deliver them to the Receiving dock.
  • Remove and stage full trailers for outbound Routes shipment.
  • Transport trailers across the yard and dock/undock trailers as necessary for the operation of the Receiving dock.
  • Ensure the truck yard stays free of debris and trash.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections on Yard trucks and report any defects to the supervisor immediately for repair.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the yard trucks daily.
  • Maintain a clean work area by use of soap and high-pressure hose.
  • Complete required logs.
  • Ensure that safety while operating a yard truck is top priority.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
