About The Position

The Yard Driver is responsible for maintaining organization and production in the Springfield terminal yard. The position involves moving inbound and outbound trucks, keeping the yard organized and flowing, and supporting the shop by expediting trucks and ensuring sufficient equipment is available. The Yard Driver communicates with other associates and provides customer service to Prime drivers and shop associates.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• At least 5 months of OTR experience or 6 months of daycab experience.
• Strong organizational, computer, and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to get in and out of trucks and hook and disconnect trailers multiple times per day.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds and push and pull 50 pounds.
• Must pass a job-specific post-offer physical before beginning employment.
• Steel-toed footwear and safety glasses are required in the shop.

• Basic knowledge of the trucking or transportation industry.

Responsibilities

• Spot inbound and outbound trucks.
• Organize the yard and keep it flowing freely.
• Expedite trucks to the shop for shop associates.
• Ensure sufficient equipment is available for truck shops.
• Communicate effectively with other associates.
• Provide excellent customer service to Prime drivers and shop associates.
• Complete additional work-related tasks as needed.
