About The Position

The Yard Driver supports the efficient operation of a logistics and distribution center by safely maneuvering tractor trailers within the yard and delivering products to designated locations. The role requires knowledge of DOT regulations and adherence to safety protocols, as well as careful freight handling using forklifts and electric pallet jacks. The Yard Driver coordinates with warehouse and transportation teams to support smooth loading, unloading, and yard operations.

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A.
• Proven experience operating tractor trailers in a yard or similar environment.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
• Basic reading skills to understand instructions, safety guidelines, and delivery documentation.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
• Certification in forklift operation or other relevant equipment training.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems or yard management software.
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor trailers safely within the yard and move trailers to designated locations.
• Comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
• Load and unload products using forklifts and electric pallet jacks, handling them properly to prevent damage.
• Deliver products to specified locations within the facility or yard as directed by supervisors.
• Perform routine inspections of vehicles and equipment, and promptly report issues.
• Communicate with warehouse staff and dispatch to coordinate movements and deliveries.
• Consistently follow safe working practices, including proper lifting and carrying techniques for heavy weights.
