About The Position

The Yard Driver organizes the yard and drives tanker trucks and trailers on and around the yard to maintain a steady workflow for mechanics. The role also involves washing and/or detailing tank trucks, trailers, and lube vans; receiving, stocking, and preparing parts and parts kits for shop use; maintaining the Des Moines Branch shop’s physical environment; and performing grounds maintenance as needed. The Yard Driver picks up and delivers parts to and from local vendors and routinely transports trucks and trailers between facilities. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The job holder must follow U.S. Department of Transportation regulations regarding petroleum tanks and the policies in Seneca Tank’s Safety Manual. Occasional overnight travel is required. Candidates who receive a conditional offer must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Requirements

• Class A CDL with air brakes, hazmat, and tank endorsements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of experience driving a straight truck or semi tractor.
• Must meet and maintain Company insurability standards.
• Must possess and maintain a current D.O.T. Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to balance competing priorities to meet deadlines.
• Willingness to admit and embrace areas of weakness.
• High attention to detail and discipline to follow core processes.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the Leading Customer Experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability and willingness to travel for occasional overnight stays.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen after receiving a conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage the yard.
• Drive tanker trucks and trailers on and around the yard to support mechanics’ workflow.
• Wash and/or detail tank trucks, trailers, and lube vans.
• Receive, stock, and prepare parts and parts kits for shop use.
• Maintain the physical environment of the Des Moines Branch shop and perform grounds maintenance as needed.
• Pick up and deliver parts to and from local vendors.
• Routinely deliver trucks and trailers between facilities.
• Follow U.S. Department of Transportation regulations regarding petroleum tanks and Seneca Tank’s Safety Manual.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
