About The Position

Yard Driver, dock/maintenance moves. Moves tractor/trailers to and from loading / receiving doors of the Distribution Center. Perform visual inspection of shuttle trailers for road readiness. Direct all drivers to the correct/assigned door. Park trucks and/or trailers. Check fluid levels (fuel) – notify supervisor if low. Enter fuel amounts into computer on tractor. Inform Supervisor of backhauls – refer to backhaul list. Set up shuttles. Inform supervisor of breakdowns in equipment. Contain spills and inform supervisor. Report equipment defects. Check that all wheel chock blocks are being used. Perform temperature checks on trailers for freezer and cooler. Make sure temps are set correctly and maintained. Be sure all pallet trailers are in good condition and safe to be moved. Tag out-of-service trailers and/or move to appropriate storage location. Respond to requests in a timely manner for trailer moves in and out of doors. Maintain accurate route sheet calling out new trailers, out-of-service trailers and trailers returning to service. Provide coverage for shuttle and route services as needed (Class A required). All other related yard tasks (cranking landing gear, etc)

Requirements

  • CDL Class A License preferred, minimum six (6) months driving experience
  • Current medical card required
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) in accordance with DCP guidelines for hiring
  • Must be able to operate a manual and automatic transmission tractor
  • On Board Computer/Electronic Log System Experience preferred
  • Ability to work well with little supervision
  • Ability to interact well with all employees
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • Flexible to varying work schedule
