Requirements

  • A valid CDL and acceptable MVR are required if driving on public roads.
  • If a CDL holder, must be registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • Must be able to drive a tractor-trailer for a period of time that will conform to FMCSA requirements.
  • Ability to operate a forklift (minimum 7,500 lb. vehicle).
  • Must be capable of dropping/hooking and coupling trailers which involves cranking landing gear, pulling the 5th wheel pin which takes approximately 65 lbs. of pressure; and maneuvering a trailer dolly.
  • Must be able to provide an acceptable MVR.
  • Must be 25 years of age and have a minimum of two years consecutive driving experience.
  • Must be familiar with state motor vehicle laws and FMCSA rules and regulations.
  • Must pass a road test.
  • Ability to read and interpret general business documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and general business correspondence.
  • Ability to work with peers and communicate basic concepts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems through standardized solutions that require limited judgment.
  • Ability to follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve routine problems.
  • Must be able to operate all safety and operational functions of equipment, including, but not limited to, chaining tires, driving manual transmission vehicles, etc.
  • Must have a safe driving record.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Candidates who receive a job offer will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and a background check.
  • If a CDL holder, must pass a pre-employment FMCSA medical exam and drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check.
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Moving trucks and trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading.
  • Collaborating with loaders and supervisors.
  • Arranging trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns, following loading crew signals when necessary.
  • Looking for ways to improve and promote quality, safety, and security procedures.
  • Promptly reporting all maintenance problems to Fleet Services and/or supervision.
  • Operating all types of equipment to perform all safety functions, including, but not limited to, operating manual transmission, chaining tires, etc., and must be skilled and qualified to drive in all types of terrain, routes, and environmental conditions.
  • Adhering to all FMCSA requirements of those holding a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Maintaining records required with compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Complying with all requirements for safe and legal transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Helping keep the truck parking yard free of debris and trash.
  • Ensuring each unit is sealed and in proper safety order.
  • Ensuring security of equipment and cargo.
  • May be required to use in-cab technology, including electronic logs and other items.
  • Providing professional and courteous service to our customers and the general public.
  • Assisting where needed based on business requirements: Dock work to include loading/unloading freight and customer site loading/unloading freight.
  • Complying with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
