About The Position

This position is located outside the plant and is part of the receiving department. The primary responsibility is driving the yard truck to move and park trailers and trucks as needed throughout the entire shift. The role requires constant communication with the supervisor and receiving team, monitoring the radio for immediate responses, and assisting with unloading trailers. The successful candidate must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Must have 6 months experience operating 18-wheeler/ shag truck with trailer (Can be a combination of employers as long as the experience is at least 6 months).
  • Must be able to back trailers using mirrors.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have valid state issued driver's license.
  • Have no DWI/DUI conviction within the past 12 Months.
  • Must have fewer than (4) points according to the Tyson Yard Driver Evaluation System.
  • Must be willing to submit to the Non-Dot disclosure and release form to obtain MVR.
  • Must be able to lift, pull, and/or push up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Applicants must be able to work with others to adhere to Tyson's safety culture.
  • If you were previously employed at Tyson, there’s a 180-day waiting period before you can reapply.
  • Applicants who have worked for Tyson Foods 3 or more times are not eligible for rehire.

Responsibilities

  • Completing initial safety check/inspection of the yard truck and documenting it on the inspection form.
  • Constant communication with the supervisor and receiving team to understand trucks that need backed in and out of the receiving dock during the shift.
  • Monitoring the radio constantly and responding immediately to anything that is needed or requested by supervisor or shipping & receiving team members.
  • Assisting receiving team members unload trailers as needed.
  • Timely communication with the supervisor about any issues during the shift.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned/requested by Supervisor.
