About The Position

DHL Supply Chain is hiring a Yard Driver NON-DOT for their Second (2nd) Shift. This role is crucial in managing the movement of equipment within the yard and to/from dock doors, ensuring smooth loading and unloading operations. The Yard Driver is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment, recharging on-site vehicles, documenting equipment locations, and monitoring their condition. This position requires close collaboration with the Operations team in a fast-paced logistics setting. The shift is Monday-Friday from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with a pay rate of $23.60 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential. Full-time employees are eligible for monthly performance and attendance incentive bonuses.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience.
  • Must have a can-do positive attitude.
  • Must have the willingness to learn new things.
  • Must be able to provide detailed communication both verbally and written in English.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of one year verifiable experience driving, switching or commercial tractor

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the movement of equipment between assigned yard locations and dock doors, ensuring efficient loading and unloading activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns to supervision.
  • Recharge on-site vehicles, accurately document yard locations, and monitor the condition of all equipment.
  • Drives switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment to and from designated locations.
  • Makes decisions in sequencing schedule to maintain efficient loading and unloading operations.
  • Loads and unloads trailers and verifies product count.
  • Maintains a clean and safe docking area and reports any maintenance or safety issues to supervision.
  • Refuels vehicles on site and documents locations and condition of equipment.
  • Maintain safe and efficient dock operation by switching trailers and equipment to and from docks.
  • Maintains equipment fuel levels and refuels equipment during appropriate times.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, verifying the count and condition of product. Reports overages, shortages, and damages.
  • Performs daily yard checks.
  • Properly secures loads, ensuring loads are within local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and/or logs as required policies and procedures.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Notifies supervision of current or anticipated repair needs.
  • Complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Work closely with operations to gather, file & maintain all data & records related to shipping & receiving activities.
  • Ensure loading on time per load-ready date & times.
  • Generate and utilize system reports to evaluate shift progress.
  • Ensure complete communication for the turn of shift.
  • Conduct oneself in a polite and service-oriented manner towards carriers, customers, and fellow associates.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
