About The Position

Mid-City Lumber Company is a longstanding local business that strives to provide customers with quality products, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and fast delivery. We offer a casual work environment with a family atmosphere. We are currently looking for someone to join our team in the following position at our Linn Creek location: Delivery Truck Driver/Yard.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • A minimum class E license required for all light trucks and material handling equipment.
  • Must be able to safely operate material handling equipment including forklifts, conveyors, etc.
  • Walking and standing on concrete floors and unpaved yard and jobsite areas.
  • Sitting in the cab of a delivery truck for much of the work shift.
  • Stair and ladder climbing are required.
  • Working outside and in unheated storage areas is required.
  • This job is subject to the temperature, and humidity, and precipitation extremes of the local climate.
  • All motor skills normally used in grasping, lifting, bending, turning, and carrying (minimum of 80 lbs.) are necessary.
  • Correctable vision and hearing are needed.
  • Must be able to understand written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to follow multi-step instructions.
  • Flexibility in working with fellow co-workers and customers.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Pull orders correctly, in a timely manner.
  • Sequentially load trucks for unloading at the customer site and in the order that the customer will use the material.
  • Ensure that loads are carefully balanced and strapped on the delivery trucks.
  • Accurately pull orders without errors by knowing product codes and product.
  • Complete all paperwork and scanning activities to account for all product pulled and loaded for customer orders.
  • Ensure that each item and the correct quantity is delivered as shown on the ticket to the correct customer job site.
  • Know where you are going, including subdivisions and locations of jobs.
  • Use digital navigation and read a map.
  • Scan in and Scan Out for each load.
  • Deliver loads in a timely manner, taking the most direct route, while observing all safety and traffic regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip inspection daily on trucks, including fluid levels and tire pressure, and top off fuel nightly.
  • Park trucks, pull keys, and put away radios each night.
  • Keep truck clean.
  • Report any damage to equipment or vehicles immediately to the supervisor and fill out the required paperwork to document the incident.
  • Assist with pulling and loading operations as time permits.
  • Ensure that the loads are correct per the ticket and are loaded in a top-down manner (material used first in on top of the load).
  • Ensure that the load is secured and will not shift.
  • For Returns, verify the location and contact of where the return was picked up.
  • Drop off the return at the proper place in the yard and forward paperwork and necessary information to the responsible party.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.
