About The Position

The Clinical Support Assistant (CSA) is an 11-month, part-time, paid position within the School of Dentistry patient care clinics. This role involves providing clinical support and informal educational experiences, interacting with dental care providers, dental students, patient support staff, clinic managers, and patients. The CSA performs various clinical support and office functions, operating in a HIPAA compliant environment that requires confidentiality and discretion. The position demands flexibility and a willingness to work across multiple patient care areas. The School of Dentistry, part of Oregon Health & Science University, is dedicated to educational programs, research, high-quality patient care, and community initiatives, fostering an environment of mutual respect and preparing graduates for compassionate and ethical oro-facial health care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, AND One year of experience with high volume contact with the public; OR 6 months of medical office experience, with high volume contact with patients
  • Basic computer skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented with organizational skills
  • Communication skills, written and verbal
  • Receptiveness to feedback and coaching
  • Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and proven successful performance at past and present employers
  • Ability to work both with a team and independently
  • Ability to successfully learn through an online learning format

Responsibilities

  • Escorting patients to and from the waiting room to the clinical dental operatory
  • Preparation and disinfection of operatories for dental procedures using basic infection control techniques
  • Routine equipment maintenance
  • Inventory stocking and tracking
  • Performing a variety of clinical support and office functions, as assigned
