About The Position

The WSoC PHY/MAC Validation and Integration Engineer integrates and optimizes physical layer (PHY) components in wireless communication systems. The role includes chip-level bring-up and digital signal processing (DSP) implementation, working with cross-functional teams to support the performance, compliance, and reliability of wireless connectivity solutions.

The engineer designs, integrates, validates, and characterizes PHY components and algorithms for wireless connectivity applications, including on real silicon. They bring wireless communication algorithms from bring-up through production and collaborate with RTL, PHY, RF, MAC, and board designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree.
• At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Proven experience in wireless communications, with a strong focus on PHY-layer design and integration.
• Solid understanding of DSP concepts and experience implementing DSP algorithms in real-time systems.
• Experience with chip-level bring-up and familiarity with hardware-debugging tools and techniques.
• Experience with PHY/RF/MAC verification.
• Experience with RF parametric testing, including EVM, ACPR, receiver sensitivity, and blocker testing.
• Experience using laboratory equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and digital multimeters.
• Verification skills in problem solving, constrained-random testing, and debugging.

Nice To Haves

• Python programming is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, WLAN, and UWB.

Responsibilities

• Design, integrate, and validate PHY-layer components for wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, and UWB.
• Implement and optimize DSP algorithms for signal modulation, demodulation, filtering, and error correction.
• Conduct FPGA and chip-level bring-up, including power-on testing, debugging, and validation of PHY interfaces and PHY/RF/MAC functionality and performance.
• Troubleshoot chip-level integration issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
• Design, execute, and automate directed PHY/MAC testing scripts that control and set up RF test equipment and RF chips.
• Validate and characterize algorithms on real silicon in collaboration with RTL, PHY, RF, MAC, and board designers.
• Bring up and take wireless physical-layer algorithms for different connectivity applications to production state.
• Develop and implement test plans, collect and analyze test results, and identify, root-cause, and debug issues.
