Quantum Sky•Chantilly, VA
•$120,000 - $140,000•Onsite

About The Position

Quantum Sky is seeking a Test & Validation Integration Engineer to support an Intel customer in Chantilly, Virginia. The role bridges infrastructure staging and field deployment, ensuring enterprise systems are ready for production. In a controlled lab, the engineer physically racks, stacks, cables, and configures multi-vendor compute, storage, and networking equipment; performs pre-deployment functionality and interoperability testing; and improves staging workflows so field teams can activate systems with minimal friction. The engineer troubleshoots configuration defects, hardware anomalies, and deployment bottlenecks, writes deployment runbooks, and collaborates with systems and network architects to support repeatable, zero-defect rollouts. The position is onsite in Chantilly, Virginia. Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI clearance and be able to maintain access as required by the program, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The stated salary range is typically $120,000–$140,000; actual compensation depends on factors including education, experience, certifications, and other requirements and may fall outside that range.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience racking, stacking, cabling, and configuring enterprise infrastructure, including Cisco, Arista, and Palo Alto hardware.
  • Practical proficiency provisioning Dell PowerEdge enterprise compute and enterprise storage fabrics such as SAN/NAS, iSCSI, NVMe-oF, or NFS, including RAID configuration and iDRAC out-of-band management.
  • Practical experience installing, configuring, and verifying Kubernetes environments, container runtimes such as containerd, and basic container networking and storage plugins.
  • Demonstrated ability to isolate physical and logical faults across Layer 1 through Layer 4 using CLI diagnostics, optics validation tools, and packet captures.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including writing SOPs, cabling diagrams, and site activation runbooks for field deployment teams.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to maintain access as required by the program.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate to advanced networking, systems, or security certifications, such as Cisco CCNP, Arista ACE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
  • Experience using Ansible, Terraform, Python, or Bash to deploy configurations and accelerate repetitive staging workflows and validation suites.
  • In-depth understanding of leaf-spine architectures, BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, and stateful security inspection policies.
  • Strong command of Linux internals, systemd services, kernel networking parameters, and driver and firmware upgrades.
  • Familiarity with power distribution units (ePDU), high-density optic standards (QSFP28/QSFP-DD), and lab asset-tracking tools.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Physically assemble, mount, and cable Dell PowerEdge servers, storage arrays, and network appliances in data center racks, following structured cabling and thermal best practices.
  • Apply baseline firmware, out-of-band management settings, and initial configurations across Cisco and Arista switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and Dell storage systems.
  • Perform pre-shipment validation of network throughput, VLAN segmentation, routing protocols, firewall policy enforcement, and storage volume availability.
  • Deploy, bootstrap, and validate baseline Kubernetes clusters on bare-metal and virtualized nodes, including container runtime health, CNI networking, and persistent storage integration.
  • Develop and refine staging and commissioning procedures, identify lab failure points, and enable field technicians to perform onsite activations with minimal engineering overhead.
  • Troubleshoot physical and logical faults across Layer 1 through Layer 4 using CLI diagnostics, optics validation tools, and packet captures.
  • Write SOPs, cabling diagrams, and site activation runbooks for field deployment teams.
  • Collaborate with systems and network architects to support repeatable deployments.
