Writer (Temp to Hire)
About The Position
Hammer Creative is seeking a Writer for temporary, freelance, project-based work, with the possibility—but no guarantee—of transitioning to a full-time role. Work is offered according to project needs, scope, and the freelancer’s availability. Booking length and hours vary by project; standard remote working hours while booked are 9:00 AM–6:00 PM PT. Some assignments may be short-term, while others may allow extended or recurring bookings. Future work is not guaranteed, and roster membership does not promise future bookings. The temporary role pays $40–$60 per hour for LA-based candidates, depending on experience and qualifications. Any transition to full-time employment would require a separate offer and compensation package. Hammer Creative describes its work as personality-led and held to high standards. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Storytelling expertise, preferably including cinematic and narrative screenwriting experience.
- Deep understanding of video games, video game culture, and game genres.
- Ability to take critical feedback and iterate quickly.
Responsibilities
- Draft concepts and scripts for gameplay trailers, cinematic teasers, and social-first video content.
- Collaborate with Strategy and Creative teams to develop campaign platforms, taglines, and key messaging.
- Establish and maintain tone-of-voice guidelines for different game intellectual properties.
- Write engaging copy for TikTok, X, and community-driven activations.
- Develop and present creative concepts to internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Work with Editors, Motion GFX Artists, and Game Capture teams to ensure the final product aligns with the written vision.
