About The Position

We are seeking a freelance Subject Matter Expert with a teaching background in Journalism to write high school courses. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in journalism, understand educational standards, and be able to write engagingly for 13 to 17-year-olds. This two-semester course will provide foundational knowledge for students and will consist of 8 units per semester, with each unit being 5500-7500 words. Work is expected to begin immediately. Candidates may participate in a paid audition as part of the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Teaching experience at the high school or community college level.
  • Ability to write in an engaging and conversational style appropriate for 13 to 17-year-olds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative.
  • Deadline-driven.
  • Ability to apply constructive feedback.
  • Experience working with state standards.
