About The Position

Duggan Academy is hiring a winter Wrestling coach. The assignment is contingent upon having a sufficient number of participants and funding, and the position will remain open until filled. Salary is based on coaching experience in the activity: Step 1 is paid during the first year supervising it, Step 2 during the second year, and Step 3 beginning in the third year. The listed salaries are $2,070, $2,240, and $2,599, respectively, based on the current collective bargaining agreement. Interested teachers, including those who have held the position before, should apply.

The coach will oversee the sport and travel program, instruct and encourage athletes, and supervise students throughout practices and travel. Coaching candidates must meet the stated CPR/First Aid, coaches education, and concussion-training requirements.

Requirements

• Knowledge of wrestling or the relevant activity.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to instruct and encourage athletes successfully.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Coaches Education and concussion certification.
• Completion of the MIAA coaches education course.
• Completion of CPR training and the “Concussion in Sports” course.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the sport and travel program.
• Select the team for the travel season.
• Develop a daily practice schedule.
• Supervise students at all times, including on buses to away games.
• Check athlete eligibility and attendance daily.
• Establish rules and expectations for athletes.
• Issue equipment and collect it at the end of the season.
• Secure building permits.
• Be aware of MSSADA rules and regulations.
