Under the direction of a supervisor, the employee follows travelers, process sheets, and blueprint notes to prepare, pack, and mark products, as well as perform other assigned duties. Work includes verifying part numbers, quantities, and related information; assembling boxes; and applying labels. Product marking may use rubber stamping, electro-etching, laser marking, dot peen, vibro peen, or other techniques used by Heim for product identification. The employee gathers appropriate wrapping and packaging materials and sets up bagging, labeling, and other packaging or marking equipment. They use computers and relevant software to process products in the shipping area, follow established procedures to verify box quantities using a weight counter, and handle products carefully to minimize damage during transit. Duties also include moving packaged products with material-handling devices, completing production records, and occasionally pulling stock, relubricating stock items for shipment, and performing other general shipping duties. The employee replenishes bags on the bagging machine, changes print ribbons according to specified procedures, reports faulty products or equipment and unusual circumstances to a supervisor, maintains housekeeping, and follows safety regulations and required protective-equipment rules.
