About The Position

The Wound Care Nurse is a Registered Nurse who uses the Nursing Process to plan, implement, direct, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimal outcomes for patients with wounds. The nurse works collaboratively with other disciplines on the assigned unit, prioritizes nursing actions, and accurately implements physician orders within appropriate time frames. The position includes ongoing training and is open to nurses who are new to wound care.

Requirements

• Associate degree in nursing.
• Valid Registered Nursing license.
• Valid CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required for Magnet Hospitals.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working with wound care patients; training will be provided.
• Prior experience with billing and coding is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on scientific principles, nursing theory, and evidence-based practice.
• Recognize changes in patients’ conditions and intervene appropriately.
• Prioritize nursing actions based on patient needs, acuity, and desired outcomes.
• Implement physician orders accurately within appropriate time frames.
• Educate and counsel patients and their families about wound care processes and issues.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on the assigned unit.
