About The Position

Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with St. Andrews Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina as they search for their next Worship Pastor. St. Andrews is a warm, mission-minded Baptist congregation with a strong sense of family and a desire to serve God by connecting people to Jesus and each other. The church values an intentional, blended worship experience that honors both traditional and contemporary expressions while inviting people of every generation to participate. St. Andrews is seeking a Worship Pastor who will take ownership of the church’s worship experience while partnering closely with the Senior Pastor, staff, musicians, and volunteers. This is an opportunity for an energetic, relational, and humble leader to bring consistency and vision to a ministry that includes choir, praise band, congregational worship, technology, and opportunities for broader music and arts involvement. The Worship Pastor will provide focused leadership for the entire worship experience at St. Andrews. Working collaboratively with church leadership, this person will plan and lead worship that is spiritually meaningful, musically strong, creative, and accessible to a multigenerational congregation. The church desires a healthy blend of choir, organ, praise band, congregational singing, and other creative elements without allowing worship to become performance-driven.

Requirements

• A capable musician who can read music, lead congregational singing, direct a choir, work effectively with a praise band, and thoughtfully blend traditional and contemporary worship.
• A joyful, energetic, and personable worship leader who can connect naturally with children, students, adults, and senior adults.
• A collaborative and teachable leader who works well with the Senior Pastor, staff, and volunteers and values the larger ministry of the church beyond the worship platform.
• A pastor-hearted leader who genuinely loves people, participates in the life of the church, and is willing to provide pastoral care and community engagement beyond music ministry.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging, cohesive worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and other ministry leaders.
• Blend traditional and contemporary music thoughtfully, honoring the church’s heritage while helping the congregation grow.
• Recruit, equip, schedule, encourage, and develop volunteer musicians, vocalists, and worship leaders.
• Develop opportunities for children, students, and other generations to participate meaningfully in the music and worship ministry.
• Provide pastoral care and participate in the broader life, outreach, and ministry of the congregation.
• Plan and support seasonal or special worship experiences, including opportunities such as Christmas, Easter, and community music events.
