About The Position

The Worship Director serves as a key leader on the Mission Church team, ensuring worship experiences are Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and culturally accessible. This director-level leader drives worship and creative excellence across all ministries, fosters a culture of authentic worship, and equips worship leaders and musicians to carry out the mission of the church.

Requirements

  • Undergrad degree preferred
  • 5 years of applicable experience leading a worship ministry in a church with multiple services
  • Experience leading and pastoring large volunteer teams
  • Experience with music technology including Abelton, Logic, and other DAWs
  • A worshiper before a performer. Your private walk with Jesus is evident in how you lead publicly.
  • A shepherd at heart who notices when a team member is struggling and follows up without being asked.
  • A strong vocalist and confident leader who serves the room, whether it's 50 or 5,000, with the same humility and presence.
  • Musically skilled, with the ability to shape a band, guide arrangements, and hold a high standard without making people feel small.
  • Secure enough to lead without needing the spotlight, and generous in giving others opportunities to lead.
  • Organized and dependable. Follow-through matters, and people can count on you.
  • Coachable. You give and receive feedback well, and you're always learning.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and shepherd worship team volunteers (musicians, vocalists, leaders)
  • Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to Worship staff, Coaches, and volunteers.
  • Develop a volunteer leadership pipeline through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing training environments fit for their level of talent.
  • Lead worship from stage with excellence, humility, and pastoral connection.
  • Serve as the primary worship voice for the church, guiding the congregation in a way that invites participation rather than spectatorship.
  • Plan and lead weekly worship preparation in partnership with the Weekend Experience Director and execute with worship coordinators.
  • Oversee the totality of Worship at Mission, including Mission Students (6-12th grade), working with Worship Staff to develop volunteers and pipeline for future leaders.
  • Ensure theological alignment, artistic excellence, and spiritual vitality in all worship environments with Mission’s overall mission, vision, and values appropriately embodied within worship.
  • Develop a long-term vision and strategy for worship ministry that aligns with Mission's mission and the broader Creative Team.
  • Responsible for the planning, allocation, and oversight of the annual Worship budget.
  • Evaluate and improve worship systems, tools, and processes.
  • Maintain consistency and contextualization of worship culture across multiple ministries.
