About The Position

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Workshop Electrician – Summer Student for their Lively, ON location. This role offers an opportunity to support the Service team by assisting with routine maintenance, repair, and workshop activities while gaining valuable hands-on experience in an industrial environment. The student will work alongside experienced technicians, developing practical electrical and mechanical skills and gaining exposure to Sandvik’s service operations and safety culture. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or entering an Electrical program or related trade program.
  • High school education completed or in progress.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in the electrical or skilled trades field.
  • Strong willingness to learn in a hands-on workshop environment.
  • Self-motivated with the confidence to ask questions and seek guidance.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and contribute positively to a team environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with tools, mechanical equipment, or in a shop environment.
  • Exposure to electrical systems or industrial equipment.
  • Experience through co-op placements, technical programs, or hands-on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work from verbal and written instructions to complete routine workshop activities.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair activities on equipment and components under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Support the assembly and transportation of materials handling equipment.
  • Carry out routine tasks related to electrical and mechanical service work.
  • Apply basic knowledge of electrical systems, mechanics, and materials while learning industry best practices.
  • Complete basic service reports and documentation related to work performed.
  • Communicate with team members and customers when required.
  • Participate in local training opportunities and development activities.
  • Support the team during peak summer vacation coverage periods.
