About The Position

The Workplace Violence Prevention (WPV) Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive workplace violence prevention program across the healthcare ambulatory system. This role focuses on staff safety, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety through training, assessment, and incident response.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing, Emergency Management/Preparedness, Environmental Health and Sciences, Fire Protection, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in healthcare security, safety, behavioral health, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Training or experience in Site Safety Assessments required.
  • Considerable knowledge of modern workplace violence prevention principles and practices, rules, and regulations in healthcare settings.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines and reporting expectations.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and interpret safety data.
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
  • Proficiency in report writing and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and also to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field.
  • Experience with workplace violence prevention, de-escalation training, or risk assessment preferred.
  • Prior training, certification and experience in the following areas strongly preferred: Workplace Violence Prevention, Non-escalation / De-escalation, CPI, Vistelar.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), Vistelar, or similar de-escalation certification.
  • AVADE, MOAB, or equivalent training.
  • Memberships in the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and/or the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS).

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and consultative support for the development and review of department and/or organization-level workplace violence prevention plans.
  • Assist with the design, coordination, and evaluation of all workplace violence trainings, policies and procedures.
