This role is suited to an intermediate workplace design professional who thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment and enjoys balancing technical drafting with cross-functional collaboration. The Workplace Design Specialist will translate workplace requirements into accurate furniture layouts, specifications, and installation packages. Working closely with Workplace Consultants, Project Managers, Account Support Coordinators, and clients, this role supports successful project delivery through high-quality drawings and documentation. This is a detail-intensive role requiring strong organization, time management, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness. This position offers the opportunity to deepen expertise in workplace design, contract furniture, and space planning within a collaborative environment. This is an existing, full-time vacancy, working a minimum of 3 days per week on-site at our Mississauga office.

Requirements

  • A background in Interior Design, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years of AutoCAD experience.
  • Experience in commercial office interiors, workplace design, or contract furniture environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience producing detailed drawings, specifications, and space plans with strong attention to accuracy and execution quality.
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD and comfortable working within structured, detail-heavy production environments.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new tools and manage competing priorities in a project-based workflow.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and clients.
  • Ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully to requirements, and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Organized, accountable, and solutions-oriented.
  • Balance technical precision with practical execution and motivated by delivering consistent, high-quality output.
  • Willing and able to travel to client sites, meetings, and events as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CET/Configura, ProjectSpec, SketchUp, Canvas, or related specification and visualization tools is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop workplace drawings and specifications by interpreting requirements from Workplace Consultants and clients to produce accurate space plans, furniture layouts, specifications, installation drawings, and presentation packages using 2D and 3D tools.
  • Support end-to-end project execution by remaining engaged throughout the project lifecycle, supporting projects from concept and quoting stages through installation preparation and final documentation. Manage multiple active projects simultaneously ensuring timelines, accuracy, and coordination across deliverables.
  • Collaborate across teams and clients by working closely with Workplace Consultants, Project Managers, Account Support Coordinators, and clients to ensure smooth communication and successful project execution. Participate in collaborative design discussions, including design reviews and live collaboration sessions.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and compliance by ensuring layouts meet applicable fire and building codes and maintaining accurate as-built documentation. Support site measurements and verification activities as required.
  • Build technical expertise by staying current on Haworth product knowledge, workplace systems, software updates, and industry trends, while supporting junior team members where appropriate.
