Experienced Workover Rig Derrickhand
About The Position
A Workover Rig Derrickhand is responsible for activities conducted from an elevated position in the rod basket or tubing board. The role works with a three- to five-person crew performing maintenance and repairs on oil and gas wells, and may also work on the floor, operate the rig, drive the crew truck, or assist with shop and yard maintenance as needed. The position is full-time and typically follows a 14-days-on/7-days-off rotation. Long hours and weekend or holiday work may be required as job duties demand. The job operates outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme wind, rain, cold, and heat. Pay is $30–$35 per hour.

- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and participate in the random testing pool.

- Valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Class A or B CDL.
- Previous workover experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the derrick on the tubing board and rod basket when tripping pipe.
- Verify that the derrick is properly scoped out and anchored and that devices are properly deployed.
- Assist the operator with rigging up and down and lining up the well service rig with the well.
- Perform elevated work associated with rigging down.
- Pull and lay down rods, tubing, and casing from the tubing board or rod basket.
- Operate the pump, tongs, elevators, and other rig tools and equipment.
- Maintain and inspect climbing devices and fall-prevention equipment.
- Drive the crew truck when necessary.
- Work on the floor or operate the rig when necessary.
- Work in the shop or assist with NDES Yard maintenance when necessary.
- Assist with repairs and prepare the workover rig for deployment when necessary.
- Assist in training new crew members, specifically Floorhand-SSEs, when necessary.
- Attend and participate in daily and monthly safety meetings.
- Understand and comply with company, customer, health and safety policies, and other required regulations.
- Report all incidents immediately.
- Perform other duties as directed by management.
