About The Position

Purpose Brands, the parent company of Orangetheory, Anytime Fitness, Waxing the City and The Bar Method, is seeking a Workout Programming & Design Specialist to join its Orangetheory team. The Workout Programming & Design Specialist is responsible for collaboratively working with other members of the Workout Design & Experience Team to create workouts that will be used in our fitness studios around the world. This process includes, but is not limited to, workout design, workout reviews, workout revisions, plus creating, reviewing, and distributing visual slides for all workout types. Team members must have both a strong exercise science and programming foundation and a thorough understanding of the OTF workout experience and standards. This position requires independent and analytical thinking skills in addition to the ability to work as a unified team. One of the team’s primary focuses is the creation of a variety of workout programs consistent with our workout design standards and the ability to collectively agree on final workouts for delivery to the network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Exercise Science related field a plus.
  • Successful completion of the OTFit Certificate Workshop (upon hire).
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a leader in the fitness industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year as a fitness content creator, contributor, or program designer.
  • Must have experience independently designing workouts or training sessions, preferably delivered by other coaches/instructors in a boutique or structured group fitness environment.
  • Expertise in running, rowing, and strength/conditioning programming preferred.
  • Experience as an OTF Fitness Coach preferred.
  • Current nationally accredited personal trainer or group exercise instructor certification from ACE, NASM, AFAA, NSCA and ACSM.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Primarily a group fitness coach without programming experience.
  • Someone who only delivers pre-written workouts.
  • A personal trainer without group programming exposure.
  • Someone seeking a purely coaching-only role.
  • Someone who does not have a degree in a related field and/or industry related certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, author and create globally scalable fitness workout designs and accompanying coaches notes that are distributed monthly.
  • Revise workouts based on review collaboration and testing feedback.
  • Coach at least (3) classes each week at either our Corporate Headquarters or our Corporate Owned Studios or via our digital platform LIVE as needed when visiting our Corporate Headquarters or when in vicinity to our Corporate Owned Studios.
  • Generate ideas and work collaboratively on daily, weekly, monthly and yearly fitness programs.
  • Match names of exercises in the exercise library with those of the VVA files and coaching cue documents and always maintain an active exercise library, as well as knowledge of programming exercise options.
  • Create, refresh and update training and education documents, including the exercise library for use across the global network.
  • Work with the Workout Design & Experience Team to ensure timely development, production, and execution of fitness programming and learning projects.
  • Develop strong and supportive working relationships with the Workout Design & Experience Team to ensure collaboration within the unit, idea sharing, and a focus on meeting changing or organizational demands.
  • Create innovative solutions to programming needs.
  • Adhere to all Workout Design & Experience Team programming tools and applications used for authoring workouts.
  • Develop and support projects related to the annual Summit and Convention.
  • Lead, manage, contribute, and/or act as a subject matter expert on fitness team projects and represent the Workout Design & Experience Team at OTF cross-departmental meetings and events.
  • Lead and/or contribute content for continuing education workshops if needed.
  • Provide ongoing fitness support in collaboration with the Fitness department.
  • Ability to represent the OTF brand on a global platform.
  • Design curricula for coaching and developing purposes to achieve optimum performance.
  • Attend, participate in, and facilitate/present virtual meetings, conference calls/webinars and events to promote the OTF brand and develop enhanced and improved business results.
  • Travel to support new fitness production initiatives, as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested by the VP of Fitness, Director of Fitness & Education, and other Senior Managers.
