About The Position

Plans and conducts community relations programs designed to create and maintain favorable public relations for the center and its students in accordance with DOL, PRH, and center requirements. This role involves analyzing labor market information, overseeing the Center Industry Council, developing business partnerships for work-based learning and employment placements, and serving as a primary contact for employers. The specialist will also oversee the Community Relations Committee, build relationships with community leaders and organizations, and act as a spokesperson for the center. Maintaining contact with center staff, stakeholders, and elected officials, and providing progress reports to management are key aspects of the position. Additionally, the role provides technical support to the WBL program, ensures compliance with various regulations and policies, and assists in training the CTT department to develop jobs for students. The specialist is expected to demonstrate core values, mentor students in Career Success Standards, and participate in mandated staff training.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coach and motivate young adults in pursuing jobs.
  • Basic knowledge of job market and workforce trends.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training.
  • One to two years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Valid State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct community relations programs.
  • Analyze Labor Market Information (LMI) to identify target businesses and industries.
  • Oversee the Center Industry Council, including recruiting employers, organizing meetings, training employers on LMI for trade recommendations, and facilitating feedback on curriculum adaptations.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with local and distant businesses for work-based learning and employment placements.
  • Coordinate outreach with other Job Corps centers and regional Job Developers.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employers contacting the center.
  • Oversee the Community Relations Committee.
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with community leaders, organizations, WIBS, Youth Councils, and One-Stops.
  • Communicate Job Corps activities and plans to the community and serve as spokesperson.
  • Maintain continuous contact with center staff, OAP contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain contact with elected officials and update them on center activities.
  • Provide regular progress reports and updates to the Center Director and regional office.
  • Attend regional and national Job Corps meetings as requested.
  • Establish relationships with community members and help plan activities of mutual interest.
  • Participate in weekly meetings and special related functions.
  • Provide technical support to the WBL program.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and comply with safety practices.
  • Adhere to property control policies and procedures.
  • Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
  • Comply with DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Serrato policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
  • Help train and develop the CTT department to develop jobs for students.
  • Demonstrate and abide by Serrato Corporation's core values and operating principles.
  • Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate Career Success Standards.
  • Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  • Participate in PRH mandated staff training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
