About The Position

MACNY – The Manufacturers Association is seeking an enthusiastic connector to join our growing Partners for Education & Business, Inc. (PEB) team. This role facilitates work-based learning programming and coordinates employer engagement with students across Central New York and the Mohawk Valley. The Workforce Development Specialist will serve as a liaison between industry and school partners, focusing on career exploration activities for students, work-readiness skill development, and gathering employer feedback on workforce needs. The individual will coordinate activities with youth in schools and alongside employers as part of the Talent Development team.

  • Experience working in a workforce development setting with emphasis on the K-12 space in the Mohawk Valley.
  • Local travel within Central New York and Mohawk Valley is required.
  • Must have reliable transportation for frequent community outreach and engagements.
  • Must have flexibility in availability to support occasional activities outside of regular business hours.
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with key partners, including schools, employers, and community organizations to bridge the gap between education and workforce needs.
  • Engages and cultivates partnerships to address the needs of both students and employers through work-based learning experiences, with an emphasis on career exploration programming for high school students.
  • Develops and supports programming in coordination with the PEB team and school staff to provide students with career exploration and preparation, delivering content relevant to students’ stage of development.
  • Collaborates with school partners to establish work-based learning calendars.
  • Serves on P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) and early college high school steering committees as required.
  • Serves as a connector to other PEB-led initiatives, industry opportunities for students, and STEM engagement events.
  • Represents PEB and MACNY programs to employers and educators to increase awareness within the region, enhancing and developing new relationships for work-based learning.
  • Builds support of PEB initiatives for engagement opportunities, new volunteers, company involvement, and financial investment.
  • Educates and engages employers in the benefits of engaging their future workforce.
  • Coordinates employer participation in PEB-led events and work-based learning activities.
  • Communicates with employers to maintain a working understanding of industry and company needs.
  • Authors newsletter, magazine, and digital content as requested.
  • Participates and assists in the planning of PEB and MACNY events, including Manufacturing Month and the Talent Development Awards.
  • Maintains accurate program documentation for reporting purposes.
