About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Economic Development/Executive Director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), the Workforce Development Manager supports existing businesses and builds collaborative partnerships with area stakeholders to develop and implement workforce initiatives that strengthen the local talent pipeline. The Workforce Development Manager serves as the primary liaison between all workforce partners, including the business community, education and training providers, Chambers of Commerce, and public/private agencies dedicated to addressing current and future workforce challenges in Seguin.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in workforce development, economic development, or related field.
  • Valid State of Texas Class C driver license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with industry and knowledge of workforce needs in high-demand sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Completion of an IEDC-accredited Basic Economic Development Course is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Seguin Economic Development Corporation's workforce development programs and initiatives, including, but not limited to local and regional job fairs, HR and workforce development related industry roundtables, Made in Seguin Manufacturing Month Tours, Seguin Youth Career Expo, Seguin Job Shadow Program, Seguin Career Day Hiring Fair, Seguin Industry Signing Day, and the Seguin Career and Technical Education Showcase.
  • Develops and strengthens collaborative relationships with workforce development stakeholders, including K-12 institutions, vocational/technical training providers, business and industry representatives, Workforce Solutions Alamo, Texas Workforce Commission, and other public and private entities.
  • Manages and supports the Regional Workforce and Education Alliance (RWEA), a regional partnership between the Cities of Seguin and New Braunfels, to help fulfill its mission of leveraging industry opportunities to enhance quality of life and drive positive generational change.
  • Participates in business retention and expansion meetings with local employers to stay informed of workforce needs and challenges.
  • Utilizes data and analytics from public and private sources to support and inform the SEDC's workforce development strategies and initiatives.
  • Identifies workforce gaps and emerging trends through data collection and employer engagement, and helps develop responsive solutions.
  • Monitors and evaluates childcare-related challenges that impact workforce participation, and collaborates with employers, educational institutions, and service providers to identify and support strategies that address access to affordable, high-quality childcare in Seguin.
  • Serves as a connector between Seguin-area businesses and workforce development resources, training providers, and other appropriate support organizations.
  • Enhances existing programs and develops new workforce solutions that align with employer needs and community goals.
  • Facilitates opportunities for businesses and industries to contribute to the development of workforce training programs, including apprenticeships, internships, job shadowing, and other work-based learning experiences.
  • Identifies and pursues grant opportunities and alternative funding sources to support workforce development initiatives and address employer needs.
  • Represents the City of Seguin and the SEDC in area, regional, and state-level organizations, as needed.
  • Delivers presentations to various professional, civic, and community groups, as needed.
  • Participates in and interfaces with partner boards, committees, and working groups.
  • Assists with maintaining the SEDC's contact and informational database of Seguin-area businesses and stakeholders.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of content related to workforce development programs for the SEDC's website, social media platforms, and other communication channels.
  • Attends events and meetings outside of regular business hours, as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
