About The Position

The K-5 Teacher Licensure position aims to plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills contributing to their cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development in the 21st century. The role requires the individual to hold a current North Carolina Professional Educators license for their area of assignment or be eligible to hold one in Elementary Education (K-6).

Requirements

  • Hold a current North Carolina Professional Educators license for his/her area of assignment.
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina Professional Educators license in Elementary Education (K-6).
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area.
  • NC Teaching License or have qualifications to obtain a NC Teaching License.
  • Strong background in North Carolina Standard Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Standard I: Teachers Demonstrate Leadership
  • Knowledge and Skills: Standard II: Teachers Establish a Respectful Environment for a Diverse Population of Students
  • Knowledge and Skills: Standard III: Teachers Know the Content They Teach

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development in the 21st century.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Plan, coordinate, and continuously improve instruction.
  • Analyze situations, determine possible options, and make appropriate decisions based on data.
  • Use a variety of technology and classroom tools.
  • Manage instructional time and student behavior.
  • Motivate students.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and the community to enhance student learning.
  • Monitor student performance.
  • Interact within the educational environment.
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of the Teacher Assistant, if applicable.
  • Perform other related work as required.
