About The Position

Nogales Psychological Counseling is seeking a detail-oriented Workers' Compensation Lien Representative to join our growing medical-legal team. This position focuses on maximizing reimbursement for psychological services provided through the California Workers' Compensation system by managing liens, following accounts through the litigation process, and communicating with insurance carriers, attorneys, hearing representatives, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB). The ideal candidate has experience with California workers' compensation collections, understands the lien process, and can independently manage a large caseload while meeting deadlines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of California Workers' Compensation collections experience preferred.
  • Experience filing and managing WCAB liens.
  • Working knowledge of California workers' compensation regulations.
  • Familiarity with EAMS and the WCAB process.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a high-volume workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of California workers' compensation lien files from initial billing through resolution.
  • Review accounts to determine appropriate collection strategy.
  • Communicate with insurance adjusters, defense attorneys, applicant attorneys, hearing representatives, and other parties.
  • Prepare demand letters and settlement proposals.
  • Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), payment histories, and billing records.
  • Identify underpayments, denials, and outstanding balances.
  • Prepare files for conferences, hearings, and trials.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of collection activity.
  • Work closely with billing, providers, and management to resolve account issues.
  • Meet monthly collection and productivity goals.
