About The Position

This position is responsible for the maintenance and care of sites and school campuses, including asphalt repairs, soil grading, sod and mulch installation, and lawn mowing. The role involves maintaining and servicing all sites equipment, collecting and disposing of refuse, and assisting with the installation and repair of fencing and playground equipment. Additionally, the position requires spraying for weed control and fertilization, operating various types of equipment, and complying with safety regulations. The worker will utilize basic District computer applications for communication, training, and record keeping, and may be required to assist in instructing personnel on specific tasks. Registration with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse is also a requirement.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid Florida driver’s license.
Knowledge of a variety of sites equipment, tools, seeds, and fertilizers and related products and their uses.
Knowledge of general policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to install and repair outdoor equipment areas, driveways, parking lots, and fencing.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
Ability to comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.

Nice To Haves

One year of related experience.
Valid Florida Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with air brakes endorsement.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

Maintain and care for sites and school campuses including asphalt repairs.
Assist in the grading of soil and installation of sod and mulch.
Mow lawns with hand and/or power tools.
Maintain and service all sites equipment.
Collect and dispose of leaves and refuse.
Assist in the installation and repair of fencing and playground equipment.
Spray for weed control and fertilization.
Operate related equipment such as bat wing mower, dump truck, bucket truck, front end loader, bobcat, trencher, and tractor with box blade.
Comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures.
Utilize basic District computer applications for communication, training, and record keeping.
Assist in the instruction of personnel on specific tasks when required.
Register with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Maintain driver and CDL Licensure and required endorsements if applicable.
