Workday Payroll Consulting Manager

Attain Partners
•$175,000 - $190,000

About The Position

Attain Partners is seeking a strategic thinker and consultant to lead ERP and Payroll transformation engagements across business process assessment, technology strategy, organizational readiness, Workday implementation, and post-production support. The manager guides ERP readiness and advisory work, shapes client strategy, and facilitates stakeholder alignment through meetings, workshops, interviews, and executive briefings. The role provides Workday product and leading-practice advice, operational leadership for the Workday Payroll product lifecycle, and support for biannual releases and routine enhancements. It also facilitates future-state payroll sustainment planning, collaborates across large Workday program workstreams, and contributes to practice growth through methodology development, proposals, business development, thought leadership, and internal capability building. Periodic travel may be required based on business and client needs.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on Workday Payroll configuration experience as a Workday customer or systems implementor.
  • At least 3 years of product ownership experience in Workday Payroll and other Workday HCM modules as a Workday customer or consultant.
  • Experience defining and managing agile release management processes, including backlog management, roadmap definition, prioritization, sprint planning, and change control.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Workday Payroll solution and Workday ecosystem.
  • Workday customer or implementor certification in Payroll.
  • Strong functional knowledge of payroll business processes, including upstream and downstream impacts across Workday functional areas, common Workday solution challenges, and leading practices.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations.
  • Ability to lead client engagements independently and collaboratively.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to travel periodically based on business and client needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted advisor relationships with clients.
  • Experience supporting sales and business development.

  • Experience working with mission-driven sectors such as higher education, nonprofit, and state and local government.
  • Previous experience and/or certification as a payroll professional.
  • Experience supporting business development efforts such as proposal writing and sourcing new business for existing clients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ERP readiness assessments, develop roadmaps, and advise clients on ERP-related decisions within broader transformation efforts.
  • Collaborate with client leaders and practitioners to define a vision, evaluate options, and align technology investments with mission outcomes.

  • Advise clients on Workday challenges and decisions using relevant experience, product expertise, and practical solutions.
  • Facilitate the end-to-end product lifecycle for Workday Payroll solutions, including roadmap definition, backlog prioritization, and delivery across configuration, integration, reporting, and technical teams.
  • Provide frameworks and tactical support for biannual Workday releases and routine system enhancements, maintaining platform stability and improving payroll processes.
