About The Position

The Workday HCM Implementation Architect is a senior consulting leader responsible for delivering high-quality Workday solutions to clients across industries. This role combines solution architecture, hands-on configuration, and client advisory, with accountability for designing, building, and deploying Workday HCM solutions from implementation tenant through production. The Architect drives client outcomes, delivery excellence, and scalable implementation practices—serving as both a trusted advisor and a hands-on expert using Workday implementer tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university, 7+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Workday HCM Certification
  • Workday Environment Experience: 5-7 environments
  • Years of Workday experience: 7+ years
  • Implementation experience: 3-7 years (Launch Express or Workday GO)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary solution architect for client engagements, translating business requirements into scalable Workday designs.
  • Advise clients on Workday best practices, operating model decisions, and process transformation opportunities.
  • Lead client workshops to define future-state processes and align on design decisions.
  • Present recommendations, tradeoffs, and risks to senior client stakeholders and project sponsors.
  • Architect solutions across Workday HCM, Core Compensation and Security.
  • Define and document: business process frameworks, security model design, data and reporting strategy, and integration touchpoints.
  • Ensure designs are scalable, maintainable, and aligned to Workday standards and partner delivery methodology.
  • Act as a player-coach, owning both design and build.
  • Configure Workday using implementer tools, including: business processes (BPs), calculated fields, security roles and domains, condition rules and validations, reports and dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot complex configuration issues and drive resolution across functional areas.
  • Ensure configuration quality supports real-world client scenarios (edge cases, exceptions, role-based access).
  • Drive execution against project timelines, scope, and quality expectations.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks (scope, dependencies, technical constraints).
  • Partner with project managers to manage scope, timelines, and client expectations.
  • Ensure all deliverables are complete, tested, documented, and ready for deployment.
  • Mentor consultants and senior consultants on configuration, design thinking, and Workday best practices.
  • In cooperation with Project Manager, provide quality oversight of team deliverables and configurations.
  • Contribute to reusable assets, accelerators, and implementation methodologies.
  • Define and enforce testing strategy (unit, system, UAT).
  • Ensure business scenarios, integrations, and security roles are validated prior to deployment.
  • Support client UAT and readiness activities, including issue triage and defect resolution.
  • Drive a “no surprises” approach to go-live through structured validation.
  • Stay current on Workday releases and assess client impacts.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize client solutions post-go-live.
  • Contribute to internal practice development, thought leadership, and delivery standards.
  • Promote standardization while allowing for client-specific flexibility.
