About The Position

This posting is for one (1) Temporary Full-Time position that may continue until February 2028. The Edmonton Police Service requires an individual with excellent customer service skills and attention to detail to assume responsibilities within a fast-paced environment. This role involves conducting various checks to process enhanced security clearances for multiple branches within the EPS, analyzing and researching information, corresponding with external agencies, and maintaining databases.

Requirements

  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Completion of grade twelve (12) including business subjects related to word and information processing and training in microcomputer applications or completion of an approved certificate program.
  • A minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible supervisory and diversified word and/or information processing experience.
  • Experience working with the general public.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  • Experience in NicheUA, CPIC, BWI, PSP, CCIS, JOIN and IAPro.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Criminal Code, Criminal Records Act, and Provincial Legislation related to court proceedings and FOIPP would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting NicheUA, CPIC, JOIN, PSP, CCIS, and NCIC checks to process enhanced security checks for all areas of the EPS including Human Resources, Facilities Management Branch, Volunteers, I.T., Victim Services Unit, Zebra Centre and others.
  • Processing each applicant and all listed family members, in-laws, roommates on NicheUA, CPIC, JOIN, PSP, and CCIS. (NCIC when applicable).
  • Completing analysis and research on each enhanced security clearance.
  • Providing information and direction on enhanced security clearance.
  • Retrieving and sending CPIC messages.
  • Corresponding with external policing agencies and partners to recover intelligence.
  • Compiling and reviewing intelligence for reporting.
  • Composing correspondence to government and private agencies, typing memos, reports and other documents required to complete enhanced security clearances.
  • Maintaining various databases using Excel.
  • Performing general office duties, including collecting and distributing mail, maintaining the filing system and photocopying/scanning.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
