About The Position

The Woodyard Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery to manage raw materials, ensuring the production process is adequately supplied and maintained. This role involves material mixing, receiving and inspecting raw materials, and performing routine equipment checks and maintenance. The position requires a strong emphasis on safety, clear communication, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One to two years loader operation experience in an industrial setting highly preferred.
  • Ability to immediately understand and react to verbal safety commands, audio alarms, and written hazard alerts in English in a Manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in English to accurately read, interpret, and execute equipment lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) protocols and machine operation manuals.
  • Sufficient English verbal skills to clearly and instantly report machine malfunctions, near-misses, or unsafe floor conditions to supervisors and team members.
  • Clear, real-time communication and strict adherence to English-language safety signage are mandatory for workplace safety.
  • Good eye, hand and foot coordination.
  • Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time and multi-task.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs on a repetitive basis and stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs to get in and out of loader with no fear of confined spaces or heights.
  • Ability to do simple math calculations, use basic tools, and exhibit mechanical aptitude when conducting loader maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Mix material per specification to ensure production is set up for upcoming days to ensure proper blend and moisture content.
  • Receive incoming loads of raw materials and separate by species.
  • Inspect quality of raw material to standard and notify plant leadership of any defects.
  • Load infeed bin per production schedule requirements.
  • Conduct loader inspections and perform loader maintenance.
  • Communicate with co-workers regarding status of work flow.
  • Other accountabilities as required.
