About The Position

Drake University is seeking a Head Women’s Rowing Coach to join its athletics department. The successful candidate will support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes while creating a culture of excellence and ethics. Prior college coaching experience is preferred.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Knowledge and basic proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
Proven experience leading a successful rowing program

Nice To Haves

Experience playing at the collegiate level preferred.
Knowledge of applicable NCAA Rules and regulations.
Master’s degree preferred.
Coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and implement effective training programs, training, and competition plans that maximize player development and team performance.
Support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes within the women’s rowing program creating a culture of excellence and ethics.
Recruit and retain student-athletes able to thrive at Drake on and off the water.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and other staff as assigned. Direct and coordinate the activities of the assistant rowing staff in the planning, organizing, and coaching of the Women’s Rowing program.
Actively engage with alumni and the community to enhance program support and visibility.
Manage the Rowing program operational budget, including travel and equipment.
Demonstrate appropriate communication as it relates to internal (coaching staff, student-athletes, athletic staff) and external (fans, parents, alumni, prospects, campus community, etc.).
Performs other duties as assigned.
