About The Position

The Practice Director is responsible for the fiscal management of outpatient practice operations. This role oversees Practice Managers, Site Supervisors, and other staff within the program, fostering professional staff development. The Practice Director provides administrative direction and support, cultivating a collaborative environment of open communication, teamwork, and interdepartmental cooperation. The Director optimizes common practice operations infrastructure, including EMR implementation, performance evaluation, goal setting, billing, scheduling, and reporting. They work in concert with the Assistant Vice President and Medical Director(s) in strategic decisions regarding the growth of physician practices, specialties, services, and locations. The Director develops strategies and implements interventions with the leadership team and departmental leadership to improve individual growth and practice performance. The Practice Director ensures the delivery of cost-effective, quality patient care in support of business objectives and organizational strategic goals. They develop, implement, and administer operational systems that support the clinical practice, including patient scheduling and registration, managed care, receivables management, budgetary planning, equipment and materials inventory, policy and procedure implementation, and staffing issues. The Director acts as a liaison with ancillary services, third-party payers, physicians, and management to resolve customer service, patient care, and financial issues. The Director may focus on a specific area of expertise within the administration of the ambulatory site, such as information system administration, reimbursement, financial/budgeting, or business operations. The Director oversees the development of the financial budget across the service line and supports the standardization of practices to support accurate data collection for value-based metrics. The Director seeks opportunities to enhance and expand services, managed care contracting, and builds strong provider and staff relationships. This position participates in short and long-term planning for ambulatory services and supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field required.
  • In lieu of Master’s degree, Bachelor’s degree required with active pursuit of the Master’s degree and obtained within 3 years from date of hire or transfer.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience required as an administrative/business manager.
  • Preferably within an ambulatory care setting or managed care operations.
  • Strong Budget Management/Billing experience required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong Organizational skills required.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
