About The Position

Apple Inc. has an opening in San Diego, California, for a Wireless Systems Engineer. The role designs and simulates state-of-the-art physical-layer wireless communication algorithms; develops detailed RF system models; and investigates performance to support performance sign-off and RTL development. The engineer collaborates with RF and modem system engineers to define system specifications, assess the impact of impairments, and develop mitigation techniques. The role also investigates applications of AI/ML in RF modeling and mitigation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Experience or education in designing digital signal processing algorithms, such as filtering, resampling, adaptive filtering, or beamforming, for 5G NR cellular development.
  • Experience or education in designing digital communication systems for 5G NR modem development, including areas such as MIMO, OFDM, channel modeling, channel estimation and equalization, channel coding, receiver architectures, or AGC.
  • Experience or education applying knowledge of 3GPP physical-layer standards (5G NR) to 5G NR modem system development.
  • Experience or education applying knowledge of RF impairments, modeling, and performance impacts (such as phase noise, DC offset, and IQ imbalance) to specification definition for 5G NR transceivers.
  • Experience or education developing RF calibration algorithms and mitigation techniques, including DPD, DC offset cancellation, and IQ calibration for 5G NR transceivers.
  • Experience or education designing and developing 5G NR modems using C++, MATLAB, Python, or Spice.
  • Experience or education using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers for modem development.
