About The Position

Kele Inc. is seeking a Wire Processing Machine Operator to join their team in Memphis, TN. This role involves operating and supporting Komax Zeta series automated wire processing equipment for cutting, stripping, and preparing wire for panel assembly and production. The position requires precision, quality output, machine performance maintenance, and meeting production schedules. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two to three years of related experience operating industrial equipment and/or building low voltage control panels preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret wire lists, schematics, and cut sheets.
  • Understanding of wire specifications including color, gauge, insulation type, and strip requirements.
  • Ability to use Komax Digital Lean Wiring or similar systems to create or adjust wire processing instructions.
  • Basic computer skills for program selection, job tracking, and data entry.
  • Skilled in verifying wire length, strip quality, labeling accuracy, and crimp quality.
  • Strong attention to detail to detect defects and ensure consistency.
  • Ability to load materials, thread wire, and make basic machine adjustments.
  • Capability to troubleshoot minor machine issues such as misfeeds or jams.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet production schedules.
  • Consistent execution with focus on repeatability and minimal waste.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, resolve routine problems, and escalate when needed.
  • Logical troubleshooting approach to machine or process problems.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a production/fabrication environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, technical documents, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to calculate quantities, verify counts, and interpret basic measurements.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, resolve routine problems, and escalate exceptions appropriately.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet daily production and delivery schedules.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability to learn and utilize ERP/WMS systems, CAD style programs, and other similar systems as needed.
  • Basic understanding of part numbers, BOMs, and inventory location systems.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds routinely.
  • Requires close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and support Komax Zeta series automated wire processing equipment to cut, strip, terminate, and prepare wire for panel assembly and production use.
  • Set up and operate Komax Zeta wire processing machines to perform cutting, stripping, and wire preparation operations.
  • Load wire spools, terminals, and consumables; ensure proper routing and machine configuration.
  • Select and verify correct programs, wire types, and processing parameters before production runs.
  • Run production cycles while monitoring machine performance and output quality.
  • Review work orders, wire lists, and cut sheets to understand wire lengths, strip dimensions, labeling, and termination requirements.
  • Create or modify wire cut sheets using Komax Digital Lean Wiring or similar software when required.
  • Confirm materials and setup match job specifications prior to processing.
  • Perform in-process and final checks to verify wire length accuracy, strip quality and consistency, proper labeling and identification, and terminal/crimp integrity.
  • Identify defects such as incorrect lengths, damaged insulation, or poor crimps and take corrective action.
  • Meet daily and weekly production targets while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Label, bundle, and organize processed wire for easy identification and downstream use.
  • Stage completed wire kits or bundles for panel assembly or next operation.
  • Maintain accurate production records and job tracking.
  • Perform routine startup, shutdown, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor machine condition, tooling, and consumables; identify wear or malfunctions.
  • Clear jams, remove scrap material, and maintain proper machine cleanliness.
  • Escalate mechanical or programming issues as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures including machine guarding and lockout/tagout.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace in line with 5S standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce setup time, and minimize scrap.
  • Support process improvements related to wire processing, labeling, and workflow efficiency.
