About The Position

Processing Operators are responsible for receiving rough rice into the Processing department for cleaning, cooking, drying and distribution to multiple departments. The Processing department is an extremely hot, dusty and loud environment and employees working in this department are required to operate large industrial manufacturing rice cookers, drying tunnels and bucket conveyor equipment. This role involves learning quickly, being proactive in efforts to maximize production and prevent downtime, working well with others in a team environment with frequent, effective, and quick communication, troubleshooting and operating manufacturing equipment to identify root causes of problems, paying close attention to detail and alerting supervision if numbers fall outside expected quality ranges, maintaining a constantly clean and safe environment for themselves and their peers, and taking an active role in the department, to include providing/receiving training, critical problem solving, and striving to be a top performer with optimal production numbers. The operator must arrive for work on time for the start of the shifts and follow safety rules and operational procedures.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience, ideally in a high-speed manufacturing operation.
  • At least 2 years’ hands-on experience working on a manufacturing floor in a high-speed operation.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, flexible to work day or night.
  • Ability to work OT as required.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to be proactive in efforts to maximize production & prevent downtime.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment with frequent, effective, and quick communication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and operate manufacturing equipment to identify root causes of problems.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and alert supervision if numbers fall outside expected quality ranges.
  • Ability to maintain a constantly clean and safe environment for themselves and their peers.
  • Ability to take an active role in the department.

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Able to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving rough rice into the Processing department for cleaning, cooking, drying and distribution to multiple departments.
  • Operating large industrial manufacturing rice cookers, drying tunnels and bucket conveyor equipment.
  • Maximizing production and preventing downtime.
  • Troubleshooting and operating manufacturing equipment to identify root causes of problems.
  • Monitoring equipment settings and making required adjustments to product specifications.
  • Performing routine quality checks and adjusting to meet set specifications.
  • Creating clear, accurate and timely documentation.
  • Setting up, operating, monitoring, regulating and adjusting equipment to meet shift/daily product requirements and achieve Safety, Quality, Value, Cost (S,Q,V,C) results.
  • Conveying shift information and knowledge regarding daily production, process and/or equipment performance to maintenance, Q.C. and operator co-workers and supervisors.
  • Keeping work areas organized and sanitary according to set standards.
  • Following standard operating processes and procedures.
  • Adhering to GMP’s, HACCP, OSHA and company policies and procedures.
  • Being responsible for own personal safety and safety of others in working area.
